Clean water is a right, not a privilege

Clean water YOTF

Why safe water is essential for children and families in crisis

Around the world, millions of children wake up each day without access to clean, safe drinking water. It’s not just an inconvenience — it’s a crisis. When families are forced to rely on unsafe water sources, the risks multiply: illness spreads, education is disrupted, and dignity is eroded.

Clean water is a basic human right. That’s why it’s central to our humanitarian response efforts in communities facing displacement, conflict, and poverty.

Why water matters

Water is life — but for many families, especially in crisis zones like Gaza and Ukraine, access to clean water is far from guaranteed. Bombed infrastructure, overcrowded shelters, and supply chain disruptions make it incredibly difficult to meet even the most basic needs.

Children are most at risk. Without clean water, they are vulnerable to dehydration, disease, and long-term health complications. Families must choose between unsafe water or none at all.

Water is life and children are at risk YOTF

A ripple effect on every part of life

The lack of clean water doesn’t only affect health — it affects futures. Girls are often pulled out of school to fetch water. Children become too sick to attend class. Families struggle with the daily burden of survival instead of rebuilding their lives.

By ensuring safe, accessible water, we give children the chance to stay healthy, stay in school, and stay safe.

What will be our mission in the field

Delivering emergency supplies like bottled water and hygiene kits during the earliest stages of crisis. But we don’t stop there. We hope to involve communities and governments together, toward more sustainable, community-led water solutions — because the need for clean water doesn’t end when the headlines fade.
